Acoustic Guitar DI Preamp Pedal, 16 Body-Type Sound Models, 3-Band EQ, Boost Switch, Chromatic Tuner, Reverb, Anti-Feedback, Balanced XLR Output, Piezo and Magnetic Modes
The Zoom AC-2 Acoustic Creator is an acoustic-guitar DI preamp pedal that restores the natural body resonance a piezo pickup strips away when you plug straight into a PA. A piezo captures string vibration but loses the air and bloom of the soundboard, so the AC-2 feeds the signal through 16 sound models that rebuild that missing tone. Set it, step on it, and a direct feed to the front-of-house desk suddenly carries the warmth of a mic in front of the sound hole. For the singer-songwriter who plays a different room every night, that turns an unpredictable pickup into a repeatable, natural acoustic sound.
Beyond the body models, a 3-band EQ lets you trim boom or add sparkle to suit the room in seconds, while a dedicated anti-feedback function chases down the howl a hollow body produces at stage volume. A pickup switch matches the pedal to either a piezo or a magnetic soundhole system, and a reverb adds a touch of space to a dry direct signal. A chromatic tuner is built in so you can tune silently between songs without patching in another pedal. Everything a solo acoustic act reaches for lives on one pedalboard-friendly footprint.
A balanced XLR output sends a clean, low-impedance signal straight to a mixing console or a stagebox, eliminating the separate DI box acoustic players usually carry. Two 1/4-inch outputs run mono to a single amp or stereo across two, and a footswitchable boost delivers up to 9 dB of gain for solos. In the studio the same XLR feeds an interface directly for a fast, natural acoustic track. It is equally at home in a coffeehouse PA and a home recording rig.
Two AA batteries drive the AC-2 for roughly three hours, or you can run it on the Zoom AD-16 9V adapter or over its micro-USB port for open-ended power at a fixed gig. The compact metal-look chassis drops onto a pedalboard or into a gig bag without adding weight. Nylon-string, steel-string, and even upright players who fight thin piezo tone are the target here. If you want an onboard compressor and dual XLR outputs, step up to the AC-3, but for a straightforward tone-restoring DI the AC-2 covers the job.
