Solid State Logic UF8: Console Feel for Your DAW Mix

The Solid State Logic UF8 is an 8-channel advanced DAW controller that puts an analogue mixing-board feel back into in-the-box production. Built on SSL's 40-plus years of console workflow, the UF8 connects directly to your DAW over a single USB-C cable and gives engineers, producers and content creators eight 100mm motorised, touch-sensitive faders, eight push/rotary encoders and eight hi-res colour displays so you can ride levels, balance sends and navigate huge sessions with your hands instead of your mouse.

Why 100mm Motorised Faders Change How You Mix

Mixing with a mouse means one fader at a time and no muscle memory. The UF8's eight 100mm motorised faders move to match your session the moment you switch banks, so the physical position always reflects the real level. They are touch-sensitive, so the instant you grab one your DAW drops into the right automation mode for write or trim passes. Riding a reverb send, balancing a drum bus or finessing a dialogue automation pass becomes a feel-based move you can repeat the same way every take.

Eight Hi-Res Displays and Mouse Scroll Emulation Keep Your Eyes Off the Cursor

Above every fader sits a TFT LCD colour display showing the track name, value and parameter you are touching, with constant visual feedback as you work. The large notched navigation encoder scrubs the timeline, banks tracks and emulates the mouse wheel, while Mouse Scroll Emulation lets you adjust any plug-in parameter the cursor is hovering over with absolute hardware precision. You stay in the creative flow instead of hunting for tiny on-screen sliders.

43 Assignable Keys and SSL 360 Software Tailor It to Your Workflow

Each UF8 carries 43 assignable user keys arranged as five banks of eight User Keys plus three Quick Keys, all backlit RGB soft-feel rubber so you can see your layout at a glance. Map keyboard shortcuts, macros and transport commands to suit how you actually work, then save it all in the free SSL 360 control software. Post engineers assign session shortcuts for fast turnarounds; webcasters solo tracks and trigger edits from a single press.

Built to Last and Built to Grow With You

The UF8 is housed in an all-metal enclosure finished with a brushed anodised top plate, so it looks at home in a high-end studio and survives life on the road. It works with Pro Tools over HUI and with Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One and Live over MCU, and it talks to up to three DAWs at once. When eight faders is not enough, link up to four UF8s for a full 32-channel SSL mix surface. At 17 x 10.5 x 2.4 inches and 6.4 pounds it sits comfortably on any desk, with an optional rackmount kit for a 6U install.

Who the SSL UF8 Is For

If you are mixing your first record in the box, the UF8 gives you the tactile control that makes balances feel natural instead of fiddly. If you are upgrading from a basic control surface, the motorised faders, hi-res screens and Mouse Scroll Emulation are a clear step up in precision and speed. And if you are comparing control surfaces spec-for-spec, the all-metal build, 43 assignable keys per unit and 32-channel scalability put the SSL workflow on your desk for serious daily production.
