Rode Universal Blimp Mount: Strip the Handle for Pure Boom Work
The Rode Universal Blimp Mount is a lightweight, interchangeable mounting adaptor for the Rode Blimp windshield and shock-mount system. It does one job well: it replaces the Blimp handle so the basket attaches straight to a boompole or stand, giving a boom operator the lightest, cleanest possible setup. When the Blimp lives on the end of a pole rather than in your hand, the pistol grip is just weight you carry, and this adaptor takes it away.
How It Changes Your Rig
Out of the box the Blimp includes an ergonomic handle that is ideal for handheld and run-and-gun use. But on a boom, that handle adds mass at the far end of a long lever, where every ounce is multiplied and felt in the operator arms over a long take. The Universal Blimp Mount swaps the grip for a compact adaptor with a universal 3/8 in thread, so the basket threads directly onto any standard boompole, boom stand, or support.
