Rode Micro Boompole Pro: A Boompole You Build to the Length You Need
The Rode Micro Boompole Pro is a modular, ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre boompole whose three 735 mm sections combine for a 7.2 ft (2.2 m) reach and extend beyond 12 ft (3.7 m) when you add more. It is a different idea from a telescopic pole: instead of sliding sections in and out, you thread together exactly the number of sections a shot calls for. For the sound engineer working in confined or difficult spaces, that modularity is freedom.
How a Modular Boompole Works
Each section of the Micro Boompole Pro is a 735 mm carbon-fibre tube that joins to the next on an industry-standard 3/8-inch thread. Assemble all three and you have a 7.2 ft (2.2 m) pole; use one or two for a short, maneuverable boom in a car interior or a tight corner; or add further sections to push reach past 12 ft (3.7 m) for high or distant sources. Because the connection is a universal 3/8-inch thread, the system is genuinely expandable rather than fixed. Carbon fibre keeps every section featherweight and stiff, so even a long assembly stays manageable and does not sag.
Optimised for the VideoMicro and Tight Spaces
The Micro Boompole Pro is purpose-tuned for the Rode VideoMicro, a compact shotgun mic whose low weight suits the pole's ultra-light build. Together they solve a specific problem: getting a real shotgun microphone into places a full boom cannot go. Reach over a table for a seated interview, into a vehicle for a driving scene, or around an obstacle on a cramped location, and place the mic precisely without wrestling a large pole. The 3/8-inch thread also accepts other compact microphones and shockmounts when the job calls for them.
