Radial SB-6 Features:

  • STEREO HUM KILLER: two-channel passive isolator drops into any line-level path to break ground loops and silence hum and buzz
  • DUAL ECLIPSE TRANSFORMERS: two ultra-linear transformers deliver ruler-flat 20 Hz to 20 kHz response while galvanically isolating the signal
  • TRS IN AND OUT: 1/4-inch TRS inputs and outputs accept both balanced and unbalanced sources for total system flexibility
  • DUAL GROUND LIFTS: independent ground-lift switches on each channel let you chase down noise one channel at a time
  • 15 DB PAD: a switchable -15 dB pad tames hot outputs so loud sources stay clean and distortion-free
  • FULLY PASSIVE: no power, batteries, or phantom required, so it works anywhere in the signal chain instantly
  • STUDIO-GRADE PERFORMANCE: dynamic range over 140 dB and distortion below 0.0008% keep the sound transparent
  • STEREO RIG FRIENDLY: compact enough to live on a pedalboard, in a guitar rack, or behind a keyboard rig

Radial SB-6 Isolator: Silence Stereo Hum Without Touching Your Tone

The Radial SB-6 is a compact, passive two-channel line isolator built to remove hum and buzz from a stereo, line-level signal path. Drop it between two pieces of gear and its dual isolation transformers break the ground loop causing the noise while passing the audio through ruler-flat, so a buzzing stereo rig goes dead quiet without changing the sound. For the guitarist running a stereo rig, the keyboard player feeding a hot stereo pair to the board, or the engineer patching consumer gear into a professional system, the SB-6 is the small metal box that finally makes the hum disappear.

What a Line Isolator Actually Does

When two pieces of audio gear are connected and each is grounded through its own power outlet, the tiny voltage difference between those grounds pushes a stray current through the audio cable linking them. That current is what you hear as hum and buzz, and it is called a ground loop. A line isolator inserts a transformer into the signal path so the audio crosses the gap magnetically instead of through a direct wire connection. The transformer passes the music but blocks the DC path the stray current needs, which is why isolation kills the hum at its source rather than filtering it out after the fact.

Two Ultra-Linear Eclipse Transformers

The SB-6 is built around two ultra-linear Eclipse transformers, one per channel, and the quality of those transformers is what separates transparent isolation from tone-robbing isolation. They deliver ruler-flat response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz within a single decibel, hold total harmonic distortion below 0.0008% at 1 kHz, and provide more than 140 dB of dynamic range, with excellent phase linearity even in the low end where lesser transformers smear the bass. The result is a signal that arrives isolated and hum-free yet sounds exactly like it did going in.

Balanced or Unbalanced: 1/4-Inch TRS In and Out

The SB-6 uses 1/4-inch TRS jacks on both its inputs and outputs, and that connector choice makes it remarkably flexible. Because a TRS jack also accepts a standard mono TS plug, the isolator handles balanced professional signals and unbalanced instrument or consumer signals equally well. That means it can sit between a mixer's balanced sends, in the middle of a stereo guitar rig running unbalanced cables, or between a consumer playback device and a pro console, adapting to whatever is on either end of the connection.

Dual Ground Lifts and a -15 dB Pad

Real-world noise problems need real-world controls, so the SB-6 gives you two. Independent ground-lift switches, one per channel, let you break the ground on each side separately to hunt down exactly where a loop is entering the system. A switchable -15 dB pad drops the level when a source runs hot, so a high-output line signal stays clean instead of overloading the transformers. Both controls are right on the box, so dialing out a noise problem takes seconds rather than a rewiring session.

Where the SB-6 Goes to Work

The SB-6 earns its place anywhere a stereo signal picks up noise. It cleans up a stereo guitar rig where two amps or two signal paths create a loop. It sits behind a keyboard or synth feeding a stereo pair to the console. It isolates a laptop, media player, or DJ source before it reaches the PA. On a pedalboard it tames the hum that creeps in when effects and power supplies share a ground. Compact and passive, it slips into any rack, board, or bag and works the instant it is patched in.

Who the Radial SB-6 Is For

The SB-6 is for the stereo guitarist chasing hum out of a two-amp rig, the keyboard player who needs a clean stereo feed to the board, and the engineer who has to interface consumer gear with a professional system quietly. If you want studio-grade, transparent isolation that removes ground-loop hum from a two-channel signal without coloring the sound and without needing power, the SB-6 is the passive stereo isolator to reach for.
