Radial ProRMP Features:

  • PLAY RECORDED TRACKS THROUGH AMPS — Send a dry, pre-recorded track back out through any guitar amp, pedal, or effects chain to reshape the tone after the take.
  • 100% PASSIVE, NO POWER NEEDED — A custom-wound transformer does all the work with no batteries and no power supply, so there is nothing to switch on or fail.
  • REVERSE-DI IMPEDANCE MATCHING — The transformer converts a balanced line-level source into the high-impedance signal a guitar amp expects for a full, natural response.
  • TRANSFORMER ISOLATION KILLS HUM — Galvanic isolation breaks the ground loops between your recording system and amp to eliminate buzz and hum.
  • ONBOARD LEVEL CONTROL — Dial the signal up to drive the amp harder for grit or back for a cleaner tone, fine-tuning exactly how the track hits the input.
  • GROUND LIFT, POLARITY, AND PAD — A ground lift, 180-degree polarity reverse, and input pad give plug-and-play control with no complicated setup.
  • WARMS UP WIRELESS SYSTEMS — On stage, it converts a sterile wireless line output back to a warm, high-impedance instrument feed for your amp.
  • 14-GAUGE STEEL CHASSIS — A folded steel enclosure shields the transformer for a lifetime of studio and touring reliability.

Radial ProRMP: Send a Recorded Track Back Through a Real Amp

The Radial ProRMP is a 100% passive studio reamper, a transformer-isolated reamp box that takes a recorded, balanced line-level track and converts it back into a high-impedance signal an instrument amplifier can play. It is the reverse of a direct box: where a DI sends a guitar into the console, the ProRMP sends the console back into the guitar amp, letting you re-record a clean captured performance through any amp, pedal, or effects chain until the tone is exactly right. For the engineer who wants to nail a guitar sound in the mix instead of committing to it on the way in, the ProRMP opens the door to endless creative retakes.

What Reamping Is and Why Engineers Rely on It

Reamping is the technique of recording an instrument clean and dry first, then sending that recorded track back out through a real amplifier later to capture the tone. It has been a secret weapon on countless major records because it separates the performance from the sound: the player nails the take once, and the engineer is then free to audition amps, move microphones, and reshape the tone during mixing without ever asking for another performance. And it is not just for guitar, engineers reamp bass, keyboards, drums, and even vocals to add new color and character.

Passive by Design: A Transformer, No Power, No Noise

The ProRMP is completely passive, which means it draws no external power at all and has nothing to switch on or fail. The magic is a custom-wound transformer that does two jobs at once: it converts the balanced, low-impedance line output of your recorder into the high-impedance signal a guitar amp expects, and it acts as an electrical isolator that breaks the ground loops between your recording system and your amp. Those ground loops are the usual source of buzz and hum when you connect studio gear to a guitar rig, and the ProRMP simply eliminates them.

The Reverse DI: Matching Line Level to a Guitar Amp Input

The engineering challenge of reamping is impedance. A recorder puts out a balanced signal at roughly 150 ohms, while a guitar amplifier expects the roughly 1 megohm, high-impedance signal of a pickup. Feed one straight into the other and the amp sounds thin and lifeless. The ProRMP's transformer bridges that gap, presenting a 1600 ohm input to your recorder and delivering an 1850 ohm output tuned to drive an amp's front end naturally. It does all of this passively, without amplifying or coloring the signal, so the amp reacts exactly as it would to a live guitar.

Onboard Level Control for Dialing in the Amp

Because the amount of signal you send an amp changes how hard its front end is driven, the ProRMP puts a level control right on the box. Turn it up to push the amp into more grit and breakup, or back it down for a cleaner tone, fine-tuning exactly how the recorded track hits the input. Paired with a ground-lift switch to silence hum, a 180-degree polarity reverse to lock phase, and an input pad for hot signals, the ProRMP gives you plug-and-play control over the reamped sound without any complicated setup or menu diving.

The Reamping Workflow, Step by Step

Reamping with the ProRMP follows a simple path. First, record the instrument clean through a direct box so you capture a dry, unprocessed track while the player still hears their amp. Later, send that dry track from your recording system into the ProRMP, which feeds it into your guitar amp and pedals. Then adjust the level, move the microphones, and reshape the tone until it sits perfectly in the mix, and record the result. You can run the same performance through a dozen different rigs and pick the best, all without the player ever coming back.

Beyond the Studio: Warming Up Wireless Systems on Stage

The ProRMP has a second life on the live stage. Many wireless guitar systems put out a balanced line-level signal that sounds sterile and thin plugged straight into an amp. Run that wireless output through the ProRMP and its transformer converts it back to a proper instrument-level, high-impedance feed, restoring the warmth and response of a hard-wired cable. Touring guitarists use it to keep the tone of a long wireless-to-pedalboard-to-amp signal chain strong, clean, and natural across a big stage.

Who the ProRMP Is For

Housed in the same 14-gauge steel chassis as Radial's touring DI boxes, with no batteries to die and no active circuitry to fail, the ProRMP is a set-and-forget tool for the recording engineer who wants to perfect a guitar or bass tone in the mix rather than commit to it while tracking; for the producer chasing creative new textures by running vocals, keys, or drums through amps and pedals; and for the touring guitarist who wants a wireless rig to sound as warm and alive as a cable. If you have a recorded track and an amp you love, the ProRMP is the passive reamper that connects them cleanly.
