Radial OX8-j Features:

  • SPLIT ONE MIC TO THREE DESTINATIONS — each of eight channels feeds a direct output plus two transformer-isolated outputs, so a single mic reaches front-of-house, monitors, and broadcast at once.
  • JENSEN JT-MB-CPC TRANSFORMERS — premium transformers deliver a 20 Hz to 20 kHz response within 0.2 dB and just 0.003% distortion for the cleanest possible split.
  • FULLY PASSIVE, NO POWER NEEDED — the all-transformer design requires no power supply and cannot introduce active-circuit noise, so it works anywhere.
  • TRANSFORMER ISOLATION KILLS GROUND LOOPS — galvanic isolation blocks DC and hum from traveling between consoles, eliminating the buzz that plagues shared mic feeds.
  • 48V PHANTOM PASS-THROUGH — the direct output is hardwired to the input so phantom power reaches condenser mics and active DI boxes without interruption.
  • -36dB PAD ON EVERY CHANNEL — switch in a pad to accept line-level sources without overloading the transformers.
  • PER-CHANNEL GROUND LIFT — lift the ground on the auxiliary feed to stop ground loops between separate mixing systems.
  • XLR, DB-25 AND EUROBLOCK I/O — connect via XLR inputs, 25-pin D-sub harnesses, or Phoenix Euroblock terminals for touring or permanent install.

Radial OX8-j: One Microphone, Three Consoles, Zero Noise

The Radial OX8-j is an eight-channel passive microphone splitter that sends each mic signal to three destinations at once using premium Jensen transformers. In live and broadcast production, a single microphone often has to feed the front-of-house console, the monitor desk, and a recording or broadcast truck simultaneously, and doing that without hum, noise, or crosstalk is genuinely difficult. The OX8-j solves it with a fully passive, transformer-isolated design that keeps every feed clean and independent. Route eight mics to three places, walk away, and trust that every console hears exactly the same signal.

How Passive Transformer Splitting Works

Each of the eight channels takes one microphone input and delivers a hardwired direct output plus two transformer-coupled outputs. Because the split is entirely passive, there are no active circuits to add noise, require power, or fail mid-show. The transformers do more than divide the signal: they provide galvanic isolation, breaking the ground connection between consoles so that DC and hum cannot travel from one system to another. That is the root cause of the buzz that appears whenever two mixers share a microphone, and transformer isolation eliminates it at the source. The result is exceptionally low noise even in electrically hostile venues.

Why the Jensen Transformers Matter

The OX8-j is the premium member of the OX8 family, fitted with Jensen JT-MB-CPC transformers. These deliver a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz within just 0.2 dB, total harmonic distortion of only 0.003% at 1 kHz, and a phase deviation of under one degree at 100 Hz, numbers that mean the split signal is a faithful copy of the original with no audible penalty. For high-value inputs like lead vocals, orchestral mics, or a broadcast mix that will be scrutinized on air, that transparency is worth choosing over the standard Radial-transformer OX8-r.

Phantom Power, Pads, and Ground Lifts

Practical splitting means respecting the needs of real microphones. On the OX8-j, the direct output is hardwired straight through to the input, so 48V phantom power supplied by the primary console passes back to condenser mics and active direct boxes without interruption. Each channel includes a -36 dB pad that lets you connect line-level sources without overloading the transformers, and a front-panel ground lift on the auxiliary feed that disconnects the ground to stop loops between separate mixing systems. ID label strips accept a wax pencil so you can mark channels and troubleshoot a busy stage at a glance.

Connections and Rack Integration

The OX8-j lives in a single rack space of rugged 14-gauge steel and offers the connector flexibility that professional installs demand. Inputs arrive on standard XLR wired in parallel with a rear-panel D-sub, while the isolated and direct outputs are available on both 25-pin D-sub connectors for quick eight-channel cable harnesses and Phoenix Euroblock terminals for permanent wiring. Whether you are patching a touring rack in minutes or building a fixed broadcast facility, the OX8-j drops in cleanly and stays put.

Who the OX8-j Is For

The OX8-j is made for front-of-house and monitor engineers who split stage mics between consoles, broadcast operations and houses of worship that send feeds to a recording or streaming rig, and rental and install companies that need reliable, power-free isolation they can trust night after night. Anyone running a shared microphone system where hum and ground loops are unacceptable, and where signal fidelity truly matters, will appreciate the Jensen-equipped transparency of the OX8-j. It is the no-compromise choice when the split has to be silent and the copy has to be exact.
