Neumann EA 87 MT: Matte-Black Suspension for the U 87 Ai
The Neumann EA 87 MT is a matte-black elastic suspension shock mount for the U 87 and U 87 Ai, matching the isolation of the nickel EA 87 in a finish built to vanish on camera. Rubber suspension bands cradle the microphone in a floating spider, decoupling it from the stand so footfalls, floor rumble, and boom knocks stay out of a sensitive large-diaphragm capsule. The non-reflective black keeps the hardware out of the shot under studio lighting and on a lit stage. The cradle is dimensioned to the U 87 Ai body.
Aim and Secure
A swiveling yoke tilts the microphone to a seated or standing vocalist and locks the angle without creep. The 5/8-inch-27 female thread mounts to studio booms and stands, and the supplied adapter steps down to 1/2-inch and 3/8-inch studs. The U 87 Ai loads in seconds. Once aimed, the EA 87 MT holds its position through the take.
Matte or Nickel
Reach for the EA 87 MT when a matte-black U 87 Ai needs suspension that stays out of frame on a set or broadcast. The nickel EA 87 is the match for a silver-bodied U 87 Ai. Smaller Neumann bodies use the EA 1 for the TLM 103 or the EA 4 for the TLM 102.
