The Lewitt S10 is a conference microphone capsule head built around a 10 mm shotgun condenser element, engineered for large boardrooms, auditoriums, and lecture halls where noise and gain-before-feedback truly matter. Like every capsule in the series, it is a head rather than a complete microphone, so it threads onto a Lewitt gooseneck you supply separately (GN15X, GN35X, or GN35X2), which carries the XLR output at its base. The payoff is a talker captured cleanly from across a wide table with a whisper-low noise floor, and the first time a distant voice comes through open and quiet is the moment the S10's larger capsule justifies itself.

Why a Larger Capsule Runs Quieter and Hotter

A larger diaphragm intercepts more acoustic energy, so it generates a stronger signal for the same sound pressure - that is why the S10's 10 mm element delivers a hotter 50.5 mV/Pa sensitivity. More output means the downstream preamp has to add less gain, and because the capsule also has a physically lower intrinsic noise, the S10's self-noise falls to 21.8 dB(A) - a full 7 dB quieter than the 6 mm S6. Lower self-noise plus higher output translates directly into more usable gain-before-feedback and a cleaner signal from a distant talker, all across the same 65 Hz to 16 kHz response, with 107 dB maximum SPL.

How the Capsule-and-Gooseneck System Works

The S10 is the transducer half of a two-part microphone: the capsule converts sound into signal, and the Lewitt gooseneck mounts it, aims it, and carries the balanced XLR output from its base to your mixer or DSP. It runs on 48V phantom power at just 1.8 mA, fed up through the gooseneck. Because the head is interchangeable, an integrator can standardize on one gooseneck platform across a building and drop the S10 into the rooms that demand its low-noise reach, re-aiming or re-lengthing later without touching the cabling. (Note: the S10 is a capsule head only and requires a Lewitt gooseneck to operate.)
