Lewitt GN35X2: A Tall Dual-Bend Gooseneck That Reaches Up to the Talker

The Lewitt GN35X2 is a dual-bend conference microphone gooseneck, roughly 13.8 in (350 mm) long. Its two flex points let the arm rise from a base sitting flat on the table and then curve up and over toward a seated speaker's mouth, placing the capsule close to the voice while the base stays out of the way. It is the middle element of a modular conference microphone -- base below, S-series capsule above -- chosen whenever the talker sits back from the table and a short arm simply cannot reach.

Why Two Bends Change the Geometry

It seats into a Lewitt base -- such as the B70A or B70AS -- through a 3-pin XLR fitting on the bottom, and it accepts an interchangeable S-series condenser capsule on top, so an installer sets both the reach and the pickup pattern by choosing the right parts. Any single component can be swapped later without replacing the microphone, which means a room can be reconfigured -- a longer arm here, a tighter capsule there -- one piece at a time as needs change.

Signal Down, Phantom Power Up

The tall arm is also part of the electrical path. The GN35X2 conducts the capsule's audio down its full length to the base through a balanced connection, and it passes 48V phantom power the other way, up from the base to the condenser capsule that needs it. It carries no power or electronics of its own -- it simply routes signal down and phantom up reliably over its 13.8 in (350 mm) run, so the whole three-part assembly still powers from the single phantom-capable input feeding the base. The extra length costs nothing in wiring complexity.

The dual-bend GN35X2 is the arm to choose when the capsule has to come to the talker rather than the talker leaning into the mic: conference tables where members sit back, council chambers and courtrooms, panel desks, tall lecterns, and any installed system where a low base but high pickup point is required. Its up-and-over reach keeps the base flat and stable on the surface while still delivering the capsule close to the mouth, which is exactly what seated, camera-facing positions need.
