The Genelec 8331AP is a compact three-way Smart Active Monitor designed for critical nearfield audio work where space is limited and precision is essential. It delivers full-range performance with true point-source imaging, combining a coaxial midrange and tweeter with dual 5.1" Acoustically Concealed Woofers (ACW) in an enclosure no larger than a traditional two-way monitor. With automatic calibration, analog and digital I/O, and GLM software support, the 8331 is ideal for mixing, mastering, and immersive audio in demanding studio environments.

Coaxial Driver Design for Superior Imaging Accuracy
At the core of the 8331 is Genelec’s Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC) driver, which aligns the mid and high drivers for phase-coherent output. This configuration ensures precise stereo imaging and tonal consistency across the listening area. Combined with the proprietary Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), the 8331 delivers consistent off-axis response and a wide sweet spot, enabling accurate decision-making regardless of listener position.

Acoustically Concealed Woofers for Full-Range Output
The two 5.1" woofers are placed behind the front baffle and radiate through concealed openings, allowing the 8331 to produce deep, clean low-end while maintaining a compact footprint and symmetrical directivity. This design supports full-range monitoring with frequency response down to 45 Hz, ideal for music production, film post, and other applications requiring detailed bass extension without external subwoofers.

Room Calibration with GLM for Consistent Results
The 8331AP is part of Genelec’s Smart Active Monitor family and supports GLM software for comprehensive room correction and system integration. With GLM, users can calibrate level, delay, and frequency response to their specific acoustic environment. Flexible I/O and Standalone Controls
This monitor accepts both analog and AES/EBU digital inputs via separate XLR connectors and auto-detects the input source using Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology. Users can override input selection and control EQ settings through GLM or via DIP switches on the back panel for offline configuration. An XLR digital output allows daisy-chaining multiple monitors, with selectable channel routing for stereo and multichannel setups.

Built to Perform in Any Studio Environment
The Genelec 8331’s enclosure uses the company’s Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) design, crafted from aluminum to minimize diffraction, reduce resonance, and enhance durability. A rear reflex port provides extended low-end response, while the Iso-Pod stand decouples the speaker from surfaces and allows for adjustable angling. The monitor can also be wall or ceiling mounted using optional brackets.
