1U Rackmount Reference Monitor, Active Stereo, Dante Networked Audio, Balanced Analog Input, 10W Plus 10W Class-D, AES67 Compatible, Dante Domain Manager Ready, 26-Dot LED Meter, Broadcast Rack
The Fostex RM-3DT is a 1U rackmount active stereo reference monitor with Dante networked audio, built for facilities that route sound over IP. It pulls any two channels from a Dante network and reproduces them through two 110 by 40 mm elongated cone units, each driven by its own 10-watt Class-D amplifier. Sharing the exact chassis of the analog RM-3, it slots into the same rack space while trading the older digital and analog input set for a network connection. For a modern broadcast plant or a Dante-based install, it is a confidence monitor that lives on the same network as everything else.
Networking is the whole point of the DT designation: the RM-3DT is AES67 compatible and Dante Domain Manager ready, so it fits into managed, secured audio networks rather than sitting outside them. It supports sampling frequencies of 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHz, and it can output either or both of any two channels extracted from the Dante stream. A balanced analog input remains available for a local source when the network is not in use. That combination keeps the monitor useful across networked and conventional signal paths.
Behind the panel, a power-saving design pairs a digital amplifier with a switching supply to deliver 10 watts per channel while keeping heat and draw low. A 26-dot LED meter reports level in selectable VU, VU-plus-peak, and peak-plus-peak-hold modes, giving the operator a precise visual read when the rack is out of earshot. The elongated cone units are voiced for clear near-field reproduction rather than volume. Everything is arranged to be left running through long broadcast and post shifts.
Because its physical dimensions match the conventional RM-3, the RM-3DT drops straight into an existing rack as a networked replacement or addition. It suits broadcast facilities, OB vehicles, and large installs that have standardized on Dante and want monitoring on the same fabric. Operators who do not need networking can choose the analog RM-3 instead, which shares the chassis but uses XLR and AES/EBU inputs. As the Dante member of the RM-3 family, the RM-3DT brings rack monitoring onto the network.
