New Product
DM7 power. Mid-size price. Two form factors. Built for live sound, houses of worship, corporate AV, broadcast, and theater.
For years, audio engineers working in the mid-size console market have asked a simple question: what sits between the compact DM3 and the full-scale DM7? Yamaha answered it. The Yamaha DM5 Series is a new family of professional digital mixing consoles built directly on the DM7 engine, bringing flagship-level processing and show-file compatibility into a more accessible, portable package. If you've been running a DM3 and outgrowing it, or looking for a credible step down from the DM7, the DM5 is exactly what you've been waiting for.
This is the headline that matters most. The DM5 isn't a scaled-down console with watered-down processing — it runs the same firmware and editor as the DM7, which means two things that matter enormously in professional workflows. First, show files are fully compatible between the DM5 and DM7, so engineers can build and prep at one console and walk up to the other without starting over. Second, effects and processing quality are derived from the same proven architecture, including access to premium effects from Yamaha's flagship RIVAGE PM Series via the optional PY-DSP expansion card, unlocking Rupert Neve Designs EQs, compressors, and dynamic EQ processing that were previously only available on the highest-end Yamaha systems.
Running at 96kHz throughout, the DM5 delivers the audio quality and processing depth that serious live sound engineers, broadcast teams, theater production, and house of worship AV directors expect — now in a form factor that fits more venues, more budgets, and more touring rigs.
The DM5 Series launches with two distinct consoles designed for different production demands.
DM5 — Professional 60-Channel Dual Bay Digital Console
The flagship of the series. The DM5 is a full dual-bay, 60-channel digital console with 26 touch-sensitive motorized faders (12+1+12+1), 32 analog inputs, 16 analog outputs, dual 13.3-inch multi-touch touchscreens, two 4.3-inch utility displays, 64×64 Dante networking, and 18×18 USB to host. At 47.5 lbs it's genuinely road-ready, and an adjustable tilt display with four angle positions solves glare in outdoor mixing environments.
| • | Channels: 60 inputs, 24 mix buses, 12 matrices, 2 stereo buses, 12 DCA groups |
| • | Faders: 26 × 100mm touch-sensitive motorized faders (12+1+12+1) |
| • | Screens: 2 × 13.3" + 2 × 4.3" multi-touch touchscreens with Glass key |
| • | I/O: 32 analog in / 16 analog out, 16 FX rack, 1 PY slot, Dante 64×64, USB 18×18 |
| • | Dimensions: 32.5" × 9.3" × 17.3" / 47.5 lbs |
DM5C — Professional 48-Channel Single Bay Digital Console (Flyable)
The compact, flyable version of the DM5 engine in a single-bay, lighter-weight body. The DM5C offers 48 channels, 13 motorized faders (12+1), 16 analog inputs, a single 13.3-inch touchscreen and a 4.3-inch utility display, the same Dante 64×64 networking and USB 18×18, and all the same DM7 engine processing — in a more portable form factor (17.5" wide, 29.5 lbs) that racks with the optional RK5 kit. This is the console for engineers who need DM5-level performance in a smaller, flightable, easier-to-travel-with footprint.

The DM5 Series isn't just two consoles — Yamaha is launching a full ecosystem of I/O and processing hardware alongside it:
| • | RUio1608SB-D — 16-in/8-out Dante stage box with head amp performance comparable to the DM3. The first stage box of its kind from Yamaha, designed for live and temporary events. Portable, floor or rack-mountable (optional RK-RUioSB kit). |
| • | RUio16FLX-D — 16-channel flexible rack I/O with Phoenix connectors. Selectable analog or AES/EBU routing per channel pair. Built for installations, business audio, and live events — ideal for expanding DME systems. |
| • | RUio0804-D — 8-in/4-out rack I/O for expanding system inputs and outputs in medium-to-large live and installed setups. |
| • | PY-DSP — the processing expansion card that unlocks 32 premium rack slots on the DM5 (and adds 32 more on the DM7, on top of its existing 64). Enables RIVAGE-level effects including Rupert Neve Designs Portico 5033 EQ, 5043 Compressor, and Dynamic EQ. |
| • | RK5 — the optional rack kit for the DM5C, allowing the single-bay console to be rack-mounted in a standard equipment rack for touring and installed applications. |
| • | RK-RUioSB — the optional rack kit for the RUio1608SB-D stage box, converting the portable stage box into a rack-mountable unit for permanent and semi-permanent installations. |
Optional software licenses extend the platform further: DEK-BR enables broadcast-specific feature sets, DEK-TH adds theater-specific workflows, and DEK-DUGAN adds Dugan automixing, ideal for panel discussions, houses of worship, and broadcast applications where unattended mixing of multiple open mics is needed.
Both DM5 and DM5C ship with Yamaha's full DM Series software suite: DM Editor for remote setup and operation from a connected computer, DM StageMix for iPad remote control from anywhere in the venue, MonitorMix for performer monitor control via smartphone, Console File Converter for converting show files between RIVAGE PM, CL, QL, and DM7 series formats, and ProVisionaire Control/Touch for building custom control panels. Both consoles also include Steinberg Nuendo Live and VST Rack Elements for multitrack recording.
| • | Live sound engineers who have outgrown the DM3 and need more channels, faders, and processing without moving to a full DM7. |
| • | Houses of worship running full band, choir, and broadcast — with Dante networking, iPad control, Dugan automix, and show file recall for consistent Sundays across multiple volunteers. |
| • | Corporate AV and event production teams who need reliable, touring-ready consoles with broadcast and theater software options. |
| • | Touring engineers who want DM7-compatible show files in a lighter, more packable console — especially with the flyable DM5C. |
| • | Theater and broadcast production teams who need the DEK-BR or DEK-TH software packages for their specific workflow requirements. |
