SDI Streaming Encoder, H.265/H.264 Dual-Stream Encoding, 1080p60 SDI Input, SDI Loop-Out, RTMP/RTMPS/SRT/RTSP/UDP Protocols, Image and Text Overlay, Gigabit LAN, Pocket-Size 5W Chassis
The AVMatrix SE1117 is an H.265/H.264 SDI-to-IP streaming encoder that converts a 3G/HD-SDI camera feed into a network video stream at up to 1080p60. It is the small silver box that lets a broadcast-grade SDI camera reach YouTube, a CDN, or a private network without a computer in the middle. For anyone who has fought laptop-based streaming crashes mid-service, a dedicated hardware encoder like this is peace of mind.
A streaming encoder takes uncompressed video from a camera and compresses it in real time into an efficient codec, then packages it in a streaming transport protocol and sends it over the network. The SE1117 uses H.265 (HEVC) or H.264: HEVC delivers roughly the same image quality at about half the bitrate of H.264, which matters on constrained upload connections. Doing this in dedicated hardware, rather than on a general-purpose PC, means lower latency, lower power, and far greater reliability for 24/7 operation.
The SE1117 speaks a broad protocol set: RTMP and RTMPS for platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Wowza; SRT for resilient, low-latency contribution over unpredictable public internet; and RTSP, RTP, HTTP, and UDP for IPTV, monitoring, and system integration, with both unicast and multicast. SRT in particular adds packet recovery and encryption, so a feed stays intact even when the network drops packets. Dual-stream output lets a high-bitrate main stream and a lighter sub stream run simultaneously for different targets.
An SDI loop-out passes the source through for a local confidence monitor or a downstream recorder, so encoding does not consume the signal. Built-in image and text overlay let you brand a stream with a logo or lower-third without external gear, and mirror/flip corrects camera orientation. The pocket-size metal chassis draws only about 5W, running cool and fanless for permanent rack or on-camera mounting.
The SE1117 is built for streaming an SDI camera directly to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, or a Wowza server; for IPTV and low-latency SRT contribution feeds; and for adding SDI cameras into a networked IP video system. Houses of worship, education, corporate AV, and remote multi-site productions rely on it as a dependable, computer-free path from an SDI camera to the internet.
