AVMatrix SD1141: One SDI Feed to Four Clean Outputs

The AVMatrix SD1141 is a 1x4 3G-SDI distribution amplifier that splits one SDI input into four independently buffered outputs. It auto-detects SD, HD and 3G-SDI, and re-clocks and equalizes each output so long cable runs stay clean. Two of the four outputs also carry DVB-ASI. Powered over DC or Micro-USB at about 1W, it is the compact, reliable way to send one camera to four places at once.

What a Distribution Amplifier Does

A distribution amplifier regenerates one input into several outputs so a single source can feed multiple devices without signal loss. A quality SDI DA re-clocks the signal, retiming it to a clean clock to strip accumulated jitter, and equalizes the input to recover high-frequency energy lost over coax. The SD1141 does both on a 3G-SDI feed, so each of its four outputs is a fresh, full-strength copy rather than a degraded split. That regeneration is exactly why a powered DA replaces a passive splitter wherever signal quality counts.

Four Outputs, DVB-ASI and Auto Detection

Four separately buffered outputs mean an unplugged or shorted cable on one leg will not disturb the other three. Automatic input detection locks SD, HD and 3G-SDI without setup, and outputs 2 and 4 additionally support DVB-ASI transport streams for broadcast data paths. Cable equalization regenerates the signal for reliable long runs to monitors and recorders. It is straightforward, dependable one-to-four distribution.
