The Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT-USB-BK is a full-size, fully automatic belt-drive turntable built to do three jobs the standard AT-LP60XBT cannot do alone: stream vinyl over Bluetooth, play it through a wired stereo, and convert your records to digital files over USB. It adds a USB Type-B output to the acclaimed LP60X automatic platform, so the same deck that streams to your wireless headphones can also rip your collection to a computer. For the first-time buyer it removes every intimidating step of owning a turntable; for the collector it turns a wall of records into a digital library; and for the apartment listener it sends full-fidelity vinyl straight to a pair of Bluetooth headphones with no receiver in the room. One deck, three signal paths, and nothing to assemble.
The feature that sets this model apart is the built-in USB-B output. Connect the included USB-B-to-USB-A cable to a Mac or PC, download the free Audacity recording software (or the program of your choice), and record each side of a record as a digital audio file. This is how you back up rare pressings, load albums onto a phone, or preserve records that were never released digitally. The USB port connects to a computer, not a thumb drive, and you can monitor the music over Bluetooth or RCA while it digitizes, so you hear exactly what you are capturing in real time. For anyone with a collection they want to protect or take with them, the USB output is the reason to choose this deck over the standard LP60XBT.
Most turntables make you wire into a receiver and a speaker system before you can hear a record. The AT-LP60XBT-USB transmits over Bluetooth with Qualcomm aptX codec support, so it pairs directly to Bluetooth headphones or powered Bluetooth speakers with no amplifier, no receiver, and no cables across the room. aptX carries more detail than standard SBC Bluetooth, so the wireless link sounds closer to the record than a basic connection would. For private late-night listening, headphones keep the music to yourself; for filling a room, pair a Bluetooth speaker instead. The wireless path is built in and ready out of the box.
Fully automatic operation is the feature first-time vinyl buyers underrate and then never want to give up. Press start and the tonearm lifts, swings to the lead-in groove, lowers onto the record, and plays. At the end of the side, the arm lifts, returns to its rest, and the platter stops, all on its own. You never cue by hand, never risk dropping the stylus on the record, and never leave the needle riding a finished side. Two speeds, 33-1/3 and 45 RPM, cover standard LPs and 7-inch singles with the included 45 RPM adapter. It removes the single most intimidating part of owning a turntable.
The AT-LP60XBT-USB is a full-size, separates-quality turntable, not a portable all-in-one. The platter is anti-resonance die-cast aluminum, which dampens the low-level vibration that smears the sound on the lightweight plastic platters in cheap players. The redesigned tonearm base and headshell improve tracking and reduce resonance. The cartridge is an integral Dual Moving Magnet VM-type with a replaceable ATN3600L diamond stylus, so when the stylus wears you swap it instead of replacing the whole player. The external AC adapter keeps AC/DC conversion noise outside the chassis and out of the signal. This is the deck that sounds like vinyl is supposed to sound.
Beyond Bluetooth and USB, the AT-LP60XBT-USB has a switchable phono/line RCA output and a built-in preamp. Set it to line and run the included stereo RCA cable to powered speakers or a Bluetooth speaker's aux input with no separate phono stage; set it to phono and feed it into a receiver or amplifier that has a dedicated phono input. Combined with the Bluetooth wireless output and the USB digital output, that gives you four ways to listen and record from one deck. Whatever gear you already own, this turntable connects to it, and whatever you want to do with your records, this deck can do it.
