High Capacity Digital Stagebox for SQ and dLive Systems
The Allen & Heath GX4816 is a high-density digital stagebox designed to dramatically expand input and output capacity for SQ and dLive digital mixing systems. Built around Allen & Heath’s 96 kHz audio architecture, it delivers forty-eight remote-controlled microphone preamps and sixteen balanced line outputs in a single portable unit. This makes it an ideal solution for large stages, touring productions, installed sound systems, and broadcast environments that require a high channel count with consistent audio quality.
Forty Eight Remote Mic Preamps with Individual Phantom Control
The GX4816 is equipped with forty-eight dLive microphone preamps, each offering remote gain control directly from a compatible SQ or dLive mixer. Individual phantom power can be switched per channel, with dedicated LED indicators providing instant visual confirmation of phantom status. These high-performance preamps are designed for low noise operation and wide dynamic range, making them suitable for critical vocal, instrument, and ambient microphone applications.
Sixteen Balanced XLR Outputs for System Distribution
Sixteen balanced XLR line outputs provide flexible routing for main speaker feeds, monitor systems, amplifier inputs, or recording destinations. This output configuration supports complex routing setups common in live sound reinforcement, theater productions, and multi-zone installations. By placing outputs closer to amplifiers or powered speakers, the GX4816 helps streamline cabling while maintaining signal integrity.
GX and DX Connectivity for Scalable Audio Networks
The GX4816 connects to the host mixer via a locking etherCON GX port using standard Cat5e or higher cabling, supporting long cable runs without additional configuration. Two DX ports allow connection of up to four additional DX Expanders, enabling large-scale I/O expansion within the same system. One DX port can also be used to integrate an ME personal monitoring system, giving performers direct control over their monitor mixes.
Designed for Portable Rigs and Rackmount Installations
Housed in a robust stagebox chassis, the GX4816 can be placed directly on the floor near performers or installed into a standard 19-inch equipment rack using the included rack ears. The 5 RU rackmount format makes it suitable for touring racks, flypacks, and permanent installations alike. This dual-use design ensures flexibility for rental companies, production teams, and fixed venues.
Expandable Architecture for Large Format Audio Systems
Multiple GX4816 units can be added to a single system, allowing engineers to scale input and output counts based on project size. SQ systems support up to two GX4816 units, while dLive systems can support up to five units depending on console class. This modular approach supports everything from mid-size productions to large multi-stage or broadcast deployments without redesigning the core system.
